others

How much time do we spend thinking of the needs of others?

I'm guilty of getting wrapped up in my own world at times. My thoughts, my feelings, my failures, my successes, my desires, my problems, ... you get the idea.

What I am learning more and more is how important it is to consider others' needs. Today, I met a young man who lost his home in a fire last night. I was introduced to him at my office where I work. My heart truly went out to him and tried to imagine his loss. It is very sad. I handed him a little cash to go buy personal items. He looked up at me and was so thankful as he received it. Then he extended his hand to shake mine and said, "I really appreciate it."  I watched two ladies make sure he got some new clothing items, and look out for him. He got to experience people who considered his needs today. I pray he finds a new home and all the things he needs. Perhaps other people will help make his burden lighter. I know, I would like to do what I can. If we all find a way, we can all help him, or someone else in need.

My goal today is to consider others as I go about my day.
