What I love About God's love

I've heard it said, "Love is not something God does, it is Who He is." (author unknown) I believe that to be true. 

What I love about God is that He loves me no matter what. He knows me better than any person on the planet and yet He still loves me with all my hang ups, shortcomings, inadequacies, and imperfections. I never feel the need to impress Him. Well, I do sometimes, but I don't feel His love for me is based on my performance any more like I did when I was younger. I have learned that His love for me is based on the fact that I am human and He just loves me -JUST BECAUSE! (Because of the fact that HE IS LOVE). It is awesome to know that even though people and friends may come and go in my life, God is faithful. Even when I do not meet His expectations, or what I perceive to be His expectations; He still cares about me and loves me. He never gives up on me. He doesn't forget me. No matter if I let him down with wrong decisions  I make from time to time; He is faithful to help me.

The truth is: God is good to me even when I do not deserve it. He never leaves me. I know whenever I call on Him that He IS always there for me.

Great Bible passages that I really appreciate:

For God SO loved the world (including little ole' me)  that He gave his only Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Many waters cannot quench (His) love. (somewhere in Psalms I think...)

Beloved let us love one another for love is of God and anyone that loveth is born of God and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God for God is love. 1 John 4:7,8

I try to love like God does. My human love fails alot. That makes me especially thankful for His kind of love. It is AGAPE love which basically means, "UNCONDITIONAL LOVE". The kind of love that just blows my mind....'cause think about it...human love has so many conditions!! So yes...that is why I am amazed by His love.

One of my favorite songs is "The Love of God":

"The love of God is greater far than tongue or pen could ever tell
It goes beyond the highest star and reaches to the lowest hell..." (chorus)

No matter where I am, no matter what I do, no matter how great or how not so great I am, His love forever remains.

At my Dad's funeral, I selected a song to be played and it still brings me comfort. It is simply titled, "The Love of God Forever Shall Remain." From the beginning of my life God loved me, and when it is time for me to die He will love me. His love will last throughout eternity. To contemplate, it is simply mind-blowing.  To be honest I am eternally grateful and thankful for His love. It really is like no other.
