Many live their life for popularity, fame, money, prestige, or fun. It's true. There's so much in life to accomplish, so many goals we can aspire to, and so many demands and expectations placed on us even at an early age.
When my first child was born, I remember I couldn't wait for him to crawl, and by 6 months I was really encouraging him along, then I couldn't wait for him to walk, and by one year, I was consistently helping him along, until he managed alone. That's sort of how life is. Once we accomplish one goal, another is awaiting. We live our lives in pursuit of the next task that will make us feel worthy and accomplished.
I think to myself from time to time, 'Is God pleased with my life and what I've accomplished so far, or is he just waiting for me to get on to the next accomplishment?' You know, I've come to realize as a parent -that God is a good Father, and is pleased with us so long as we live our life by faith in His Word, and live our lives trusting in Him, and He loves us in spite of what we do or accomplish, and whether or not we succeed in the eyes of others. I believe He wants us to enjoy our life and take it one day at a time. I believe He is pleased as we grow in our character. I once heard someone teach that God is more concerned about who we become than what we do. There is alot of truth in that.
I am learning how to slow down in life and realize that the journey of life is not about the destination as much as it is about the road trip. Enjoy your life. You only get one chance at it. Make it count!
